These guideline amounts are a starting point and your puppy may need more food depending upon age, activity and temperament. In order to reach optimal body condition, you may need to adjust food intake. This represents the total recommended volume of food per day. You should divide the total recommended feeding amount by the number of times you feed your puppy per day to get the actual portion size per feeding.
•    Remember to have clean, fresh water available for your puppy at all times.
•    This recipe is recommended for small and medium breed puppies up to 12 months of age as well as pregnant or nursing dogs of all breed types.
•    During the last three weeks of gestation, increase feeding amounts by 25% to 50%. During lactation, feed as much as she wants (usually two to five times the guideline amount, depending on litter size).
•    Because IAMS Puppy food is complete and balanced, you do not need to add vitamin or mineral supplements.
•    When introducing IAMS Puppy food, gradually mix it with your puppy's current food over the course of 4 days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love the food but hate the BAG :-} My Boston T pup loves it, she eats it up. I even use it in training because I really don't know what training treats are good for her. The only problem I have with it is the Bag. The writing on the bag is almost impossible to read because of the no contrast of the color of the text vs the bag. Also the feeding instructions are confusing as in the older and the heavier the dog gets the bag recommends less food per day. Well It really doesn't make sense to me. I'm guessing I am supposed to mix grown up dog food with what the label says to the amount on the label but there is no mention of that on the bag. Any comments on that?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Off to a good start now!! We just adopted Lucy (part Manchester Terrier and who knows what else ) from a family member who was not able to care for Lucy as she had hoped. When we got her, Lucy was eating cheap adult dry dog food and was skinny as can be. She also had a bad body odor and her breath was awful. We immediately put Lucy on Iams Smart Puppy. We also took her to the vet for her 2nd shots and a check up. Now just 10 days later she has no bad odor, she's filling out in her legs & body and her breath is so much better. Her coat is shiny and so soft, her itching has almost completely disappeared. Lucy is now an energetic happy puppy and Iams has everything to do with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I can not read your bag I just got a new puppy. She is a 4 month old Lab/Husky mix. I started her on this food because I am familiar with it from past dogs. The day I got her, yesterday her poop was soft, today it is normal. I had to come online to find out how much I need to feed her. She about 30-25 lbs. The writing on your bag, white on yellow is impossible to read. I tried with my reading glasses and a magnifier and still could not see it. No, it's not just me, my 35 yr old son could barely read it also. I recommend a more readable bag please.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from IAMS® PROACTIVE HEALTH™ SMART PUPPY ORIGINAL [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product from Iams to review. I am giving the IAMS® PROACTIVE HEALTH™ SMART PUPPY ORIGINAL three stars only because I am a fan of the Iams brand. I tried this with my puppy but he was not fond of it at all. I first started by mixing in a bit with his current puppy food. He would eat everything but this Iams formula. Eventually I tried giving him just the Iams Proactive Health but he would just turn his nose up to it. I guess he is set in his ways because he never would eat this puppy food. I still loves Iams but will not be purchasing this since he did not like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing but happy tummies [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have 3 small pups from 3 months to 5 months. They are all different breeds but one things unanimous they love this food. I feed 3xs a day and they sing for this! It's very good! They look forward to each and everyone of their meals. I haven't had hardly any of them with diarrhea and the one who did was just a day. The others changed to this very easily and there hasn't been any fuss at all with upset stomachs and very little gas. Bella normally has aweful gas but since being on this new food I haven't had one with a tummy that's complained either. All of them seem to like this new food very very much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect For My Pooch! To begin, I brought home my new puppy Pip, a Chihuahua 10 weeks of age last December. I wanted to give him food that was well priced and nutritional, and to top it off, that he would eat. I started off with a different brand of puppy food. He didn't like it much. So I switched to Iams Smart Puppy dry food. He Loved It! Not only was it decently priced, but it has all the nutritional value he needs. His coat became softer, and I could tell a difference of the way he was acting. He was more playful, and more of how a puppy should act. I've been feeding him it since. Now that he is almost 1, I will start giving him Iams Mini Chunks once his puppy food is out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Iams and My Puppies [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Iams Smart Puppy Food had been introduced to my two puppies in the middle of another bag of dog food and I have been quite surprised, because just after two short weeks of eating the new Iams Smart Puppy Dog food they no longer want anything to do with their other brand of dog food which has been their normal dog food for a few moths now and is quite expensive. They have begun to show improvement in their dietary habits and bathroom habits. I also noticed that they are less gassy. I am more than certain that We have found a new selection of dog food for my pets. Thank You Iams for such a wonderful product..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome dog food for my pup I adopted my hound mix puppy that is 4 months old and they gave me the brand of dog food they were feeding her at the kennel, which was another brand of dog food. I brought her home and she would eat it and then throw it back up. So I called the vet and they suggested trying different dog food and I did try several and she threw them all back up. I then tried Iams puppy dry food and she loves and keeps it down..She is now a ver happy playful pup that loves her iams puppy treats and dog food. I love the fact that on the bag it tells you how much at their weight they should eat..Thanks iams for making my pup happy and healthy!!
