CANADIAN KENNEL CLUB ACTS AS WATCHDOG FOR SAFER CANADIAN COMMUNITIES
2nd Annual Rdog Week Kicks Off September 19th print print this page

TORONTO (September, XX)-The Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) and Iams have combined efforts to promote Rdogs - Responsible Dog Owners Groups - created to educate Canadians on the importance of responsible dog ownership. Running from September 19th to 26th, the week long campaign is aimed at raising awareness about the role canine companions play in our communities and teaching Canadians how to make neighbourhoods in which people and their four-legged friends live safer.

“Fostering the relationship between people and dogs is essential when it comes to appreciating the important role these animals play in our community,” said Sonny Allinson, Manager, Marketing and Communications, CKC. “Educating both pet owners and non-pet owners alike on how to interact with dogs of different sizes and breeds will improve public understanding of how to best engage with our canine counterparts.”

Throughout the week, CKC Clubs across the country are hosting Rdog events designed to educate their respective communities on responsible dog ownership. These events will include topics ranging from nutrition and exercise to lifestyle and finances. Most importantly, all dog owners will be given the opportunity to participate with their dog(s) in the CKC Canine Good Neighbour program. Rdog week concludes on September 26th with the Second Annual Rdog Walk.

“Iams is proud to support the CKC in their efforts to raise awareness of responsible dog ownership and foster safer communities for both owners and non-owners alike,” said Katy Klosowski, External Relations, P&G Pet Care. “It is important to ensure your dog integrates into both your family as well as the overall community.”
